The Hockey Gods
The MD7 White boys were pumped and ready to hit the ice yesterday to play the Kingston Canadians, but what they didn't know was that Kingston wasn't their only opponent - The Hockey Gods were also in the house yesterday and were definitely not on Clarington's side. Whether you call it luck, fate or a fluke the way the puck bounces impacts the outcome of a game and yesterday the puck seemed to bounce the wrong way for Clarington every time (The Hockey Gods.) But this didn't deter our boys - they have too much character and determination to let a little bad luck stand in their way. They stuck to their game, worked hard and eventually came out on top with a score of 5-1. The boys played as a team, made some beautiful passes and played a strong defensive game. Goals were scored by N. Fata (2), L. Lawson, M. LittleJohn and B. Besco. Goal tending was solid by C. Medwid.
The issue with every sport is that you can do everything right and sometimes things just don't go your way. The way a puck hits a goal post can either result in a goal or in a near miss, or the way the puck hits your stick can either settle on the tape or can bounce over your stick onto the tape of an opposing player. Things like this are sometimes out of a player's control and left up to luck, fate or the intervention of the Hockey Gods. Yesterday was a good example of this but was also an example of how hard work, persistence and willpower can beat any opponent and any kind of luck. So congratulations boys and NICE TRY HOCKEY GODS - don't let the door hit you on the way out!
