Real Boys Wear Pink
With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), the MD7 White team traded their regular laces and tape for something a little more colorful and meaningful. One of our coaches suggested that the boys show their support for BCAM by using pink hockey tape and pink laces throughout October. This idea was strongly accepted by all parents, coaches and players and tonight the boys took to the ice united in their support of this campaign. These seven year old boys may not fully understand the significance of their pink accents but those affected either directly or indirectly by this disease were impacted by the show of support by our young men this evening. Sadly, an extended family member of one of our players was given horrific news today and was told she has breast cancer. The simple display of pink laces and hockey tape will not beat this Lady's cancer but it will give her hope and comfort when she sees the picture of our 17 young hockey players affirming that real boys wear pink!!
