2003 Peewee AA Win Garden City Early Bird 2 years in a row!
The Kwik Signs 2003 Peewee AA Toros started the year off with GOLD MEDAL WIN!
What a way to start off the season. We returned to the Garden City Early Bird tournament as the previous year Champions and the boys were not interested in being dethroned.
The Toros faced much adversity but with the support and guidance of the coaching staff and teammates managed to pull off some important wins. The tournament had some tough competition and challenged our players to dig deep.
On Friday they won both of their games against Milton Winterhawks (3-1) and the Guelph Gryphons (4-1). Saturday started off with a 6-2 win against the Southtown Stars and an unfortunate loss to the Stoney Creek Warriors later in the day. This left the team in 3rd out of 8 with a chance to redeem themselves against Stoney Creek in the semi-finals early Sunday morning.
Sunday morning the players went out on the ice determined to win and that's exactly what they did. They defeated Stoney Creek with a decisive 3-1 win putting the Toros in the finals against the Guelph Gryphons who had knocked out the first place Hometown Garden City Falcons in a hard fought game.
The Toros started off to a nice 2-0 lead quickly in the first and then the Gryphons tied it up. It was a tight game that saw each team tie the game up to 4-4. With 1:26 left in the 3rd period our boys got the game winning goal and kept the puck tied up in the Gryphons end for the balance of the game.
Congratulations to the boys, coaches and parents for a fabulous weekend of hockey, Toro style.
