Toros Give Back for the Holidays
The Peewee AA Clarington Toros sponsored by Kwik Signs worked closely with a school in the Durham Region area to give back to a family in need. This Holiday Season will be much brighter for this family due to the generosity and volunteer efforts of the Peewee AA Toro hockey team.
In lieu of a team Christmas party and gifts for themselves, the boys decided to use the funds to make this Holiday Season unforgettable for a Durham family.
The team worked in conjunction with staff at a school in the Durham Region to collect "wish lists" from the family and her three children aged 4, 7 and 9. Decked out in festive holiday spirit, players and coaching staff hit the stores. All shopping was completed last week at WalMart and Canadian Tire in Bowmanville. Boston Pizza provided the space so the boys and parents could wrap all of the gifts for each family member.
This was not only a special bonding experience for the team, it's players and parents, but also a reminder about the importance of 'giving' instead of 'getting' this Christmas. We are extremely proud of the players, parents and staff for their thoughtfulness, enthusiasm and generosity.
