What to Expect at Tryouts and Eligibility Criteria
The Clarington Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) has a longstanding tradition of offering quality hometown hockey to our community. As an integral part of the Municipality of Clarington, we are dedicated to providing our residents with the opportunity to continue their hockey development locally.
In accordance with the Ontario Hockey Federation's (OHF) new open-border policy, players are now permitted to represent any organization. However, the CMHA will maintain its focus on delivering representative hockey opportunities primarily for residents of Clarington.
To ensure this focus, the CMHA has implemented restrictions regarding the number of non-resident players on each team.
Definition of a Resident Player for the 2025-2026 Season
• For the 2025-2026 season, the CMHA has broadened the definition of a resident player. Any player residing within the Municipality of Clarington will be considered a CMHA resident.
Non-Resident Player Allocation
• Each team within the CMHA will be permitted to roster up to four non-resident players, defined as players who do not reside within the Municipality of Clarington.
