Toros Storm Montreal, Bring Home Gold

The Toros made the 5 hour journey east to the Belle Province for a tournament in Montreal. With a fire in their bellys the boys were determined to have success. We opened the tourney with a tough battle vs the Caledon Hawks. Grit and determination saw a 4 - 1 victory. With an hour rest we were back on the ice to face the pesky Ajax Knights. Our 3rd game vs them in 8 days. The boys were determined not be upset by them again and fought to a hard 4 -3 victory. Sitting 2 and 0 they were pumped for Saturday.

Saturday morning we were up early and back at it against the Rockland Crush. Hustle and determination led us to a 5 - 1 win. We were 3 and 0 and the number 1 seed going into the playoffs. Our opponent would be the Caledon Hawks again. A rematch vs our opening game of the tourney. The boys were relentless and ensured there would be no chance of a split with them as they came out hungry building a quick 3 - 0 lead. A few more goals ensured us of playing for gold as we crushed them 7 - 0.

Sunday, 11:15 Gold Medal Game
Opponent  Rockland Crush
Final Score Toros 6 Rockland 0

In true Toro spirit, this game was never in doubt as the boys peppered the Rockland goalie with shot after shot and were tenacious on the fore check. When the dust settled we had our 1st Gold Medal. Fake champagne showers, hugs, singing, and pictures filled the dressing room as the boys celebrated a hard work victory.

Mini sticks, video games, swimming and team shared dinners created memories they will have for a lifetime.

In a tribute to some old teammates, the team presented medals to the Gorham Family in honour of Jorja and to the Legge Family in honour of former coach John Maddigan. A class act of thoughtfulness.
