After an UNBELIEVABLE regular season finishing in first with a record total of 50 points heading into the playoffs the Clarington Toros U16BB team are your new Lakeshore Champions!
The luck of the Irish may have played a small part in the win on St. Patrick’s day, however it was the hard work and dedication of the U16BB Toro's team that secured a final home game win making them the 2023/2024 Lakeshore Champions! The team ended the second round of playoffs with an impressive record of 5-1-0, which included 2 AMAZING overtime wins against 2nd place Ajax Pickering Raiders (Red); one of those games coming back from a 3-0 deficit! However, this was no easy feat! Their opponents came to each game ready for a battle, but each time the Toro’s responded and proved why they were the team to beat! Goalie partners Brady Boyle and Domenic Gareau were solid between the pipes throughout both rounds and were instrumental in helping the team advance.
After the final buzzer sounded, the rink erupted with excitement as the team shared a memorable on ice huddle followed by an even more memorable celebration in the change room complete with (root) beers'! This was an evening for the record books and something none of these players (or their families) will soon forget!
The U16BB Toro’s would like to thank all those that have supported them this hockey season, with a special thanks to our families, friends, team sponsors, and the entire Toro’s community including President Dawn Mathers who was in attendance, and our fellow U16 players, families and coaches who showed up on such a momentous occasion to cheer on the team.
For the many on the team, making it to the OMHA's has only been a dream, but now, with all their hard work, discipline and motivation, those dreams have come true. This team really is one-in-a million and each and every player was an important piece in achieving this huge accomplishment.
The OMHA finals tournament will be held in Whitby the weekend of April 4-7 where the top 8 teams across Ontario will complete for the 'Red Hats'! Let's go Toros!!! #redhats #GoTorosGo #HornsUP
