Clarington Closes Recreation Facilities

Hopefully this will be a short pause. The season is extended this year and we should be able to fit the games and practices we are missing during this time. We will have more clarity on this as we are closer to reopening. Thank you everyone again for your hard work through this challenging time.

Hopefully this will be a short pause. The season is extended this year and we should be able to fit

Good afternoon,

It saddens me to send this e-mail as I was very hopeful we would not be in this position again.
The Municipality of Clarington will close all recreation facilities starting on Wednesday,
January 5, 2022, as mandated by the Province under themodified step 2 regulation.

Clarington’s recreation facilities will tentatively reopen following the provincially mandated
21-day closure. The date will be determined once Public Health confirms that sport facilities
can reopen.

These measures are in place to protect the health and safety of residents and staff as the Omicron
variant is driving a surge in COVID-19 cases province-wide and testing hospital capacity
