Clarington Toros Minor Bantam A Oshawa Cup Champions
The Clarington Toros Minor Bantam A team participated in the Oshawa Cup tournament over the Oct 18-20th weekend.
The Toros got off to a rocky start with an opening record of (0-1-1), though the coaching staff were happy with their play on that day. The boys knew going into Saturday it would be a battle to move onto Sunday- and they were able to win both games to reach the semi finals.
Even through Saturdays results were better, the coaching staff wasn’t happy with the way the team played On Saturday. The boys were challenged to bring their best effort forward on Sunday given the quality of opponents was only going to increase.
Talk about bringing their A game; with the two Sunday games being the two least stressful games of the entire weekend. The boys came out flying and dominated Ajax with a 4-1 victory, so we were off to the final vs Whitby. Having already played Whitby Blue this week in regular season and pulling out the W, the boys knew beating Whitby Blue twice in one week would be a difficult task. The coaching staff ensured them, if they played like they did in the morning game then they would be successful. The boys played amazing and dominated Whitby Blue by a 4-1 score securing the Oshawa Cup. We are so proud of these boys and the adversity they faced over this weekend to become Champions- taking the more difficult path but winning 4 straight games to secure the title.
