Important Message from the Clarington Minor Hockey Association
Submitted By Lucy Parish on Tuesday, May 7, 2019
Important Message from the Clarington Minor Hockey Association Recently a news article was released about an arrest made to an individual in Clarington who is charged with defrauding a team of their funds.

The team that has been impacted by this unfortunate situation is aware, as we have been keeping them up to date with the investigation, as well as the report to local police.  This was uncovered as a result of diligent parents stepping up and reporting on suspicious, financial irregularities within the account. This allowed Toros executives to investigate further, and subsequently notify DRPS.    We will not be reporting on the name of the individual or the team impacted in order to protect the identity of their child, who still plays hockey in our organization.   Please be aware, this is an isolated situation specific to team funds, and not related to the Clarington Minor Hockey Association,  or its finances.  The CMHA has monitoring, oversight and controls in place to protect the integrity of our members' financials.  These financials are reported in the form of financial statements at year end during the Annual General Meeting, and are also audited by an external Audit firm.

President, Clarington Toros
