Clarington Toros U11A Triumph in Thrilling Overtime Shootout to Claim Kirk Kelly Memorial Hockey Tournament

The Clarington Toros U11A team etched their names in history this past weekend by winning the Kirk Kelly Memorial Hockey Tournament championship in spectacular fashion. The final game was a testament to the team’s grit, determination, and never give up attitude as they edged out their opponents in a dramatic overtime shootout against Nickel City Cubs

Throughout the tournament, the Toros displayed exceptional teamwork, skill, and resilience, securing a spot in the championship game.
The final showdown was nothing short of a classic game.
Relentless back-and-forth, regulation time ended in a deadlock, forcing them into overtime.

When neither team managed to find the back of the net during 3 on 3 overtime, the game headed to a nerve wracking shootout. The arena was electric with anticipation as players took their turns trying to outwit the opposing goaltender. It was the Toros shooter, Brayden Rae who sealed the victory with a dazzling move that sent the puck past the opposing netminder. On the defensive end, Keneen Caswell was nothing short of phenomenal, stopping all three Nickel City shooters and securing the victory for the Toros. Igniting an eruption  from the Toros bench and their fans with 2-1 victory.

“This was an incredible game and an even more incredible team effort,” said the Toros head coach. “Every single player contributed, and they showed an immense amount of heart and determination. Winning in a shootout is never easy, but these players handled the pressure like true champions.”
