Ottawa Fall Classic Champions
Midget AA traveled to Ottawa Nov 2nd to 4th to participate in the Ottawa Fall Classic held at the Bell Sensplex. There were a total of 16 teams from southern Ontario, Ottawa and Quebec.
After a hard fought playoff round finishing with a 2-1-1 record and placing 5th, we were off to the quarter finals. A solid team effort, CIHA Voyageurs were no match for us.
The Semi finals we faced the Fighting Irish from Quebec who were undefeated in the tournament. Again, a solid team effort, we picked them apart and handed them their first lost.
In the finals we faced a short benched Halton Hills who were incredibly strong and we came out flat. This was a little understandable as it was our 7th game and 5th in two days. The boys hung in there and picked up their game and potted a goal in the second period which was the game winner. With under 30 seconds we secured the championship with an empty net goal.
I am proud of each player and how they came together as team. They battled and never gave up. The team had a lot of compliments from other teams, parents and even the refs.
Both Goalies played amazing. Hardy finished with 3 shut outs and only 1 goal scored against. He lead all goalies in the tournament.
