Comeback Kids
On Saturday January 27th, the Toros Pee-wee A team completed their stunning comeback versus the Oshawa Generals, taking the opening OMHA playoff series 3 games to 2.

In 4 prior contests the boys had been unable to defeat their next-door rivals, despite mostly outshooting them, and that trend was alarmingly persistent through games 1 and 2 in the post season. The Gens seemed to make it look easy in game 1, which they took 4-1. And they prevailed again in game 2, by a score of 3-1, despite much improved play by the Clarington boys.

But something seemed to click for the Toros after the third period of game 2. It’s as though they woke up and decided that, if they worked hard and didn’t let up, they could at least steal a game. They did that in game 3, where the winning goal literally died on the goal line with 5 minutes to go, only to be resurrected by a deft poke into the Gens’ net.

From then on, the Toros Pee-wee A boys showed just how dedicated and hard-working they could be. Every player used their talents to the utmost, whether it was making good passes, rushing the puck up-ice, stripping the other teams forwards of the puck, or downright just making great saves. And suddenly, a team that they couldn’t solve all year yielded them three smart victories in a row. Our boys showed just how good they can be when they play their game and work together as a team.

Right now, after 2 games versus the Quinte West Hawks, the same story is unfolding. Down 2 games to none, will the Toros dig deep to find what’s always been there? We’ll know as soon as this Wednesday!

Go Toros!
