Sometimes, to hang out with the best, you have to learn to bring your best. That's what the Toros PeeWee A team got down to doing, this past Thanksgiving weekend.

There were probably not as many victories as the boys would have liked, going 1 - 4 in round-robin and elimination play, but it hardly matters in the end. What matters is how the boys finished, and what they managed to accomplish in one last, hard-fought and highly entertaining contest with the Burlington Eagles.

Though the Toros PeeWee A team had begun to show progress in many areas, what was almost imperceptible was the sense of "Team" that had begun to take hold. But it came out like fireworks in the tournament semi-finals vs the Eagles. Clear as day. In fact, better and better defensive play, coupled with great goaltending (from both our goalies), is quickly becoming the hallmark of this team.

Throughout the game, Burlington players showed their mounting frustration as the Toros players kept at them, shift after shift. From battles in the corners, to improved passing and from creative play to dogged defence - the boys showed that they deserved their place on the ice against last year's OMHA champs. Despite being down 1-0 early, they held their own and nearly tied it on many occasions - most memorably at the very end, with wave after wave of smothering attack. Even though we ended with a loss on the scoreboard, the boys' high level of determined play was, in its own right, a clear win.

It was a very promising display and one that we parents, coaches, family and friends look forward to seeing duplicated as the season progresses.

Way to go, TOROS!
