PowerPlay Finalists
On November 17th the Novice AA Toros took to Guelph to participate in the 2017 Guelph PowerPlay tournament.

Round robin play started on Friday morning and their first game saw them face off against the Flamborough Sabres.  The Toros played hard to secure a 4-3 win with goals from Legacy, Holla and Dobbs.  That afternoon the boys played the Orangeville Flyers.  Thomas earned the shut out puck thanks to great goaltending and solid defense with a final score of 4-0.

Saturday morning the Toros faced the Burlington Eagles.  McLean played a great game in net and with goals by Griffin, Boyes, Best and Boyd the Toros were able to secure a 5-1 win.  Saturday afternoon the undefeated Toros played their last game of the round robin against the Guelph Gryphons.  The Gryphons came out hard with two goals in the first minutes of play.  The Toros made a quick recovery and were able to secure a 3-3 tie with goals from Legacy, Griffin and Dobbs.  This secured first place in round robin play going into the semi-finals.

The Toros met the Peterborough Petes in the semi-final game on November 19th.  With less than two minutes left in the game, the Petes pulled their goalie for a two man advantage and were able to get off a quick goal to tie the game and force overtime.  The Toros pressured hard in the three on three overtime, and Legacy scored a goal, winning the game 5-4 and securing a spot in the final.

That afternoon the Toros reunited with the Gryphons in the gold medal game.  Unfortunately the Gryphons dominated and beat the Toros 3-0.  The Toro boys should be very proud of how they played and their placement in the tournament.  Go Toros go!
