The Minor Peewee A Toros put together a convincing 6-2 win
versus the Pickering Panthers on Saturday night, to close out their first round
OMHA play-down series by a combined score of – you guessed it – 6 points (3
wins) to 2 (1 loss).
True to coach Jon Manners’ mantra of overcoming adversity through hard work, speed and team play, the boys responded by defeating a team that they had struggled against throughout the regular season. The Toros finished the regular season in 5th place, just behind Pickering. But in 4 previous games versus the Panthers, they had managed a record of 0 wins, 2 ties and 2 losses and had been outscored by a combined score of 14-8.
All the boys deserve accolades for their efforts in turning the tide on their opponent, and proving just how good a team they can be when they do their best to work together and believe in themselves.
Next up, the Toros will face the Quinte Hawks, 1st place finishers in the regular season.
Stay tuned!
